Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy. Then add the egg, extra yolk, and vanilla extract and stir until fully combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir just until combined without overmixing.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Cover and chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to improve texture and flavor.
  • Scoop dough onto a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft. Let cookies cool briefly before transferring.

Notes

Chill the dough for thicker cookies and better flavor. Slightly underbake to keep centers soft and chewy. Dough can be frozen for later baking.
