Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer
  • 11x7-inch baking dish
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 1 egg
  • 5.5 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter (for melting)
  • 16 oz whipped topping, divided
  • chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 11×7-inch baking dish. Mix brownie mix, egg, melted butter, and milk until smooth. Spread into the pan and bake for 25 to 28 minutes. Let cool completely.
  • Beat cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth. Add powdered sugar and mix until fully combined and creamy.
  • Melt chocolate with butter in short intervals, stirring until smooth. Mix into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
  • Gently fold in 8 oz of whipped topping until light and fluffy.
  • Spread the chocolate silk layer over cooled brownies. Top with remaining whipped topping and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired. Chill before slicing and serving.

Notes

Make sure brownies are fully cooled before adding the topping. Use room temperature cream cheese for a smooth texture. Melt chocolate slowly and fold whipped topping gently to keep the mixture light.
