Equipment

  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Parchment paper
  • Tray or plate
  • Fork Helpful for lifting dipped cherries

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted
  • 100 g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • flaky sea salt, optional
  • cookie crumbs, optional
  • candy toppings, optional

Instructions

  • Remove the pits from the cherries, then pat the cherries very dry with paper towels.
  • Add the chopped dark chocolate and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in short intervals, stirring after each one, until smooth.
  • Dip several cherries at a time into the melted chocolate, then coat them evenly.
  • Let the excess chocolate drip off, then place the cherries in small clusters on a parchment-lined tray or plate.
  • Add flaky sea salt, cookie crumbs, or candy toppings before the chocolate sets, if desired.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm. Store in a sealed container and serve chilled.

Notes

Fresh cherries work best, but maraschino or Luxardo cherries can be used when fresh cherries are unavailable. Milk or white chocolate can replace dark chocolate. Chocolate bars melt more smoothly than chocolate chips. Keep cherries as dry as possible before dipping to help the chocolate stick. Store in the refrigerator to prevent melting. Freeze for longer storage and thaw briefly before serving. Nutrition values are approximate.
