Ingredients
  

  • 12-14 cups cubed French bread
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • 1-2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for topping)
  • maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions
 

  • Grease a baking dish and fill it about three quarters full with cubed bread.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Pour the custard evenly over the bread and gently press to help absorption. Scatter strawberries and blueberries on top.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the bread to soak.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 35 to 50 minutes until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for best texture. You can swap berries or use dairy-free milk if preferred. Bake until the center is fully set.
